i had a few hiccups here and there. i dont know if that was because i am not running the product as domain admin. or that the certification is expired. i didnt have any issues creating the certificate and imported the ssl certificate from the vcenter. but just in case, i am going to try and create a new one and see how that goes.
now, i am going to set up the product. once you create the vm in vcenter server, you will see that the product automatically creates a certificate called ws-dc-cert.pfx. this is a self-signed certificate and is what is used by the product to protect the vcenter server. just make sure to export the certificate to the proper location that you want it to be in. i have windows10 installed and moved the certificate to the local machine. if you use linux, you can put the certificate in /home or /root. no matter what you do, make sure that you export the certificate.
