Mac App Store App Download Location
I prefer to have all applications installed per-user, to /Applications/ rather than globally. The default location for apps installed from the Mac App Store is the global applications folder located at /Applications/.
I usually move all my applications acquired from the MAS in a subfolder, e.g. Applications/Games or Applications/Utilities or whatever suits better. As wongacid said, you will be required an administrative password to perform the move.I have already had several updates to my apps, so it seems updating moved applications works flawlessly, at least for programs kept within the Applications folder. I can not be sure about other locations, though.
When you download an app, it should work as promised. Which is why human App Reviewers ensure that the apps on the App Store adhere to our strict app review standards. Our App Store Review Guidelines require apps to be safe, provide a good user experience, comply with our privacy rules, secure devices from malware and threats, and use approved business models.
You must comply with applicable privacy laws around the world relating to the collection of data from children online. Be sure to review the Privacy section of these guidelines for more information. In addition, Kids Category apps may not send personally identifiable information or device information to third parties. Apps in the Kids Category should not include third-party analytics or third-party advertising. This provides a safer experience for kids. In limited cases, third-party analytics may be permitted provided that the services do not collect or transmit the IDFA or any identifiable information about children (such as name, date of birth, email address), their location, or their devices. This includes any device, network, or other information that could be used directly or combined with other information to identify users and their devices. Third-party contextual advertising may also be permitted in limited cases provided that the services have publicly documented practices and policies for Kids Category apps that include human review of ad creatives for age appropriateness.
Your Developer Program account will be terminated if you engage in activities or actions that are not in accordance with the Developer Code of Conduct. These UID named folders are apparently the half-downloaded files from the App Store app and are the folders that need to be deleted to remove space in low disk space conditions. To be sure, you can always use du -s * on the folders in this directory to see how much space they are consuming.
Tap Change Country or Region and select any location where ExpressVPN is available (e.g., United States). If you want to use the free trial, you will have to select a location where you have a payment method for.
Location tokens are volume purchase licenses that were commonly known as Volume Purchase Program (VPP) tokens. These location tokens are used to assign and manage licenses purchased using Apple Business Manager. Content Managers can purchase and associate licenses with location tokens they have permissions to in Apple Business Manager. These location tokens are then downloaded from Apple Business Manager and uploaded in Microsoft Intune. Microsoft Intune supports uploading multiple location tokens per tenant. Each token is valid for one year.
Changing the country/region will update the apps metadata and App Store URL on next sync with the Apple service for apps created with this token. The app will not be updated if it does not exist in the new country/region store.
Automatic app updates - Choose from Yes or No to enable automatic updates. When enabled, Intune detects the VPP app updates inside the app store and automatically pushes them to the device when the device checks in.
You must renew the existing Apple VPP token or location token when the user who set up the token in Apple Business Manager changes their password or the user leaves your Apple Business Manager organization. Tokens that are not renewed will show "invalid" status in Intune.
If you have a few Mac computers in your household or office, you probably don't want to spend hours downloading the large macOS installation file multiple times. But Apple doesn't save the macOS installer in an obvious location, so it's difficult to use the same file again.
If you want to use the macOS installer multiple times, and you don't save it first, you need to download it again on each Mac you update. This takes a long time to do and sucks up your internet bandwidth in the process, as each download could take two hours or more.
To make matters even worse, if you download the latest macOS update as soon as Apple makes it available, download times are likely to be even slower while Apple's servers struggle to keep up with initial demand.
You can save yourself a lot of hassle by saving the macOS installer after downloading it the first time. That way, you can use the same macOS installer to update as many Mac computers as you need without multiple downloads.
Remember: If you have an older Mac that doesn't support the latest version of macOS, you should save the relevant macOS installer for that Mac in case you need to repair it in the future. You can download this file and create a bootable USB on any other Mac.
Download the macOS installer as you would any other app: click Get, enter your Apple ID password, and wait for the download to complete. The installer launches automatically, so press Cmd + Q or go to Install macOS > Quit from the menu bar to close it.
Older versions of Mac OS X are not available on the Mac App Store anymore. But you can still download them as disk images directly from Apple's website. After doing so, open the disk image to find the Mac OS X installers:
Unlike most files, the macOS installer isn't located in the Downloads folder after you download it. Instead, you'll find the macOS installer located in your Applications folder.
The only exception is if you download OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite, which saves a disk image in your Downloads folder. Double-click to mount the disk image to find the OS X installer inside.
Where does the new Podcast APP on MacOS (NOT iOS) store the downloaded podcast files? I have moved my Music libraries to a larger external drive and Podcast keeps asking me for locations of the unwatched but downloaded files in my list. I always have to manually locate them, even after watching them partway (the "locate" button doesn't find them). I would love to just move my files to the right folder where Podcast can find them rather than re-downloading all the ones I haven't watched/listened to yet. I even let a new one download and did a file search on the episode name and nothing came up. The old iTunes podcast saved the episodes with the file names intact, I guess the Podcast app doesn't. Will I have to download all those unwatched files again?
"Podcasts are stored in a cache folder in /Library/Group Containers/243LU875E5.groups.com.apple.podcasts . This is not designed to be user accessible, and the podcast files do not display the original file names. You can, however, drag podcast files from the Podcasts app to the Desktop or to a folder."
I ended up re-downloading all unplayed episodes AFTER un-subscribing and re-subscribing to the podcast. The files are not movable currently for Podcast as they are for Music, which can be pointed through Settings>Advanced to another folder. No option currently exist for that in Podcast.
In-app purchase keys are private and can only be downloaded once. After downloading the key, store it in a safe place. Remember to revoke a key immediately if it becomes lost or compromised and ensure that offers using this key are updated.
If your app distributes Wallet passes that require ongoing updates from your app or web service, the passes will eventually need to be reissued using a new identifier after transfer is complete so they can be signed with certificates issued from your Apple Developer account. To minimize user confusion and avoid interruption, we recommend providing a message in your app to let users know that their previously issued pass will become inactive and to download a new pass from your app or web service.
In the dialog that appears, choose Limited Access or Full Access. If you select Full Access, all users will have access to the app. Users with the Admin, Finance, and Access to Reports roles will always have access to all apps. Then click Restore.
The device type is the target device for the variant. Universal refers to the variant that runs on all supported operating systems and target devices that are delivered to customers running iOS 8 and earlier, apps purchased in volume through Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager or through Mobile Device Management (MDM), or apps downloaded using iTunes 12.6 or earlier.
